How to get to East Tokushima

East Tokushima is easily accessible, with regular flights from Tokyo, Nagoya and Fukuoka to Tokushima Awaodori Airport taking around an hour. Seasonal flights also connect to Sapporo during the summer months when visitors descend to witness the spectacular Awa Odori festival.

There is a quick Shinkansen journey to Tokushima from Okayama Station which connects to Kyoto Station, Shin-Osaka Station, Nagoya Station and Tokyo Station. The easiest way to access East Tokushima is by taking a highway bus connecting the region to Osaka, Kobe, Nagoya or another major city (journey times vary). Choosing the highway bus or renting a car and driving allows you to cross the spectacular Naruto Bridge and to take in the panoramic views of the sea.

For those who want to get in touch with this marine aspect of this coastal region, there are ferry options. There is an 18.5-hour ferry from Tokyo Port, a 14-hour ferry from Kita-Kyushu, and far shorter journeys including a 2-hour ferry from Wakayama.
